Biography:
Matt Shoup is a dedicated husband, father, and a follower of Jesus, with a passion for entrepreneurship that began at age 10 when he started a lawn mowing business to buy a boombox. This early endeavor sparked a lifelong love for business, which he later expanded during college when he joined a painting company, where he honed his skills in sales and operations. However, after college, Matt found himself six figures in debt and stuck in a job he disliked. A layoff in 2005 turned into a pivotal moment, leading him to start M & E Painting with his last $100. Since then, the company has generated over $35 million in revenue and earned numerous business awards.
Over the years, Matt has built and grown several companies, including M & E Painting and Roofing, RiRy (creators of the Pirate Patch Drywall Repair Tool), Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu, M & E Real Estate Ventures, and his personal brand, MattShoup.com. His entrepreneurial insights and down-to-earth approach have led him to keynote speaking engagements worldwide in both English and Spanish, where he encourages others to “Pour Into People” and share their authentic “Painted Baby Stories.” Matt has also been featured in major publications like INC Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Fox Small Business, and the Huffington Post, further solidifying his place as a thought leader.
Matt is also a published author, with books including Become an Award-Winning Company, Painted Baby, and his upcoming children’s book JJ Learns Jiu Jitsu. When not working, Matt enjoys quality time with his family, cooking Spanish paella, teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and sipping Spanish coffee at his favorite spot, Café Sevilla, while dreaming of his next adventure in Spain.
